Fixing the Roof

This started out as a quick fix to replace a missing soffit vent, but while I had the ladder out I decided to check out the view from the roof and noticed a patch of missing shingles.  The first job was to get an extension ladder - I found a 24' Louisville for $50 on Craigslist.

There was also an old wasp nest that I dislodged while I was up there:
First I had to clear out the birds nest:
When I hopped up on the roof, I found some wind damage to this hip ridge:
So I had to go to Home Depot and eventually Lowe's to find shingles that were generally the right color.  Here is an iPhone picture of the patch job:
And here is a quick panorama that I took while I was up there.  I need to go back up and take a better one with better lighting and more interesting clouds.

Cool panoramic, though you need to retake it with a real camera so you can have decent resolution and a consistent shutter speed.
