Vegetable Garden

Amy has been wanting a vegetable garden and so last weekend while my parents were here, we tackled putting one in.  When we put in the backyard sprinklers, we anticipated this project by also running an extra line for the garden, which has until now just been capped off and buried.  Now, we just had to dig up the sod and rocky dirt to prepare a bed for the garden.
We got a yard of Hill Country Garden Soil from the Natural Gardener.
Lined the pit and created a low raised bed using limestone blocks and loaded in the new soil.
Here is the finished bed, ready for planting.
Sprouts after two weeks:

Hooray for showing your backyard some love. Ooo, here is some pirate art from an Austin-based etsy artist you might like...http://www.etsy.com/shop/Monorail
