Bahamas Adventure Day Seven: Touring the Mainland

We packed some things for a day trip to the mainland and waded to the moored boat for our commute to the dock.  After some quick paperwork, we headed south for Clarencetown, the capital, where we were told was a 'top notch' restaurant called Winterhaven.  We enjoyed the car's AC on our adventure to find lunch and see the rest of the mainland.  The ocean around the marina in Clarencetown was gorgeous, and the yachts were as opulent as yachts tend to be.  We were more impressed with the view from the church tower.

The conch fritters from Rowdy Boys' were good, if overcooked, but we were hungry and my cheeseburger was passable, but not as wise a choice as Amy's fried fish.  After a few false starts and a full tank of gas, we drove until the road ended at the southern tip of the island where we walked along this beautiful beach:

The next sight to see on our list was the 663-foot deep Dean's Blue Hole which was absolutely gorgeous:

We drove north past the Tropic of Cancer to the Stella Maris resort for a few pictures of the coast and found this phonebooth:

We had a great road trip but were glad to pull back to the dock and enjoy the sunset and some delicious fresh seafood at Kenny's before abandoning the car and motoring home in the dwindling sun to our island home.

Food photography is hard to get right, but that last shot is making me hungry. Dean's Blue Hole looks amazing!
